There are many factors to consider regarding how much a creator makes per video and what one creator with one million followers makes; another might make a completely different figure.
Do you have what it takes to be the next Charli D’Amelio or Bella Poarch? Or are you just curious as to how much TikTok creators make per video?
How much a creator makes is not a straightforward science, much like how much one makes on YouTube, Instagram, or any other platform is not straightforward.
In this blog post, we’ll attempt to demystify the process somewhat, though know that everything with social media varies.
The TikTok Creator Fund
A TikTok creator must be eligible to join the TikTok Creator fund before they can make any money. Much like YouTube’s Adsense, there is a period between when you open your account and when you can make money on the platform.
That’s because the platform wants to make sure it is supporting serious creators and not paying out $0.50 here and there to people who don’t care about the platform.
To join the Creator’s fund, one must fit three criteria: they must be 18, they must have 10,000 followers, and their account must have 100,000 views.
However, TikTok is a platform known for its quick exponential growth of accounts. As such, if you take the platform seriously and have value to add to the platform, you can get 10,000 followers in the first few months.

How Much Does a TikTok Creator Earn From the Creator Fund?
Like with anything on social media, this isn’t especially transparent. There is no hard data that says people are a certain amount for 400,000 views, for example. As such, we can assume that this is something that depends on the creator.
Although there is no hard data, we know that no one seems to live off of the Creator Fund’s money. There are loud complaints it is underfunded and that creators are making just a few dollars a video, even if they have a million followers or more.
Perhaps if you’re receiving 25 million views a TikTok like some of the bigwigs, you’ll be able to keep a roof over your head with it. But most TikTokers rely on other ways of making money on the app to finance their life.

Sponsored Posts
You’ve probably logged onto TikTok to see some of your faves promoting a new beauty blender, a new fragrance, or a new service. This is another way they take home money; through sponsored content. Sponsored content can make a TikToker several hundred dollars a post or more, and it’s relatively easy to create since the video are micro-videos.
For instance, a make-up TikToker may do a look they would do anyway, but instead, incorporate a certain brand or use a certain company’s lipstick to finish off the look.
Sponsored content, like everything else, depends upon the number of followers you have and your average amount of views. Brands want eyes on their product, so they want influencers that are going to get “butts in the seats.” If you blew up overnight with one viral video and haven’t been able to recreate that success, it is unlikely brands will court you.

TikTok’s Creator Marketplace
The TikTok Creator Marketplace is a special place on the app for select TikTokers to “meet” brands to do deals with. While many TikTokers are becoming so famous, they’re getting brand deals through their new agents; others are going through the Creator Marketplace. Or, creators can do both.
Like the Creator Fund, you’ll need to be invited to join the Creator Marketplace. Unlike the Creator Fund, the qualifications seem to be less transparent. If you meet the qualifications, they’ll let you know.
Promoting a Song
One of the reasons TikTok is so fun is that you can use copyrighted music in your videos. YouTube has locked down on creators using any music they don’t have a license to, often striking creators who use the music.
While songs go viral on their own accord on YouTube, TikTok can help them get off the ground. How many times in the past couple of years have you heard someone say, “Oh, it’s that song from TikTok!”?
Increasingly, musicians are paying for TikTok creators to use their songs in TikToks in hopes that they’ll go viral and gain mainstream traction. The rates aren’t as much as a YouTuber with the same following might ask for, making it all the more appealing.
A musician can strike a deal with a TikToker or their agent, and the TikToker, with a huge reach, can use their song in a video. Soon enough, everyone will be humming along to that song, wondering where they’ve heard it and Googling the lyrics.
TikTok can launch music careers as quickly as it can launch micro-influencers.

Making Money as a TikToker
There are other ways you can diversify your income as a TikToker, like creating a Patreon, starting a YouTube, selling an item like a class or a book, or selling merch. However, these extra income tactics are not per video but rely on a bit of an entrepreneurial spirit.
How much a TikTok creator can make per video depends on the TikToker and what type of content they’re creating. It also depends on what else they’re doing, like incorporating sponsorships or newly penned songs into their short-form videos.
TikTok is still a new platform, though, and we’ll have to wait and see.
