TikTok is one of the biggest social media platforms on the internet right now. Currently, you can open the TikTok app and watch endless videos on various topics from sports, music, and entertainment, all the way to very niche topics about certain books, concepts, and more.
If you’re on the platform, there’s a high chance you’ve seen a video that you want to share with friends. And while you can send the video to different profiles on the app, there are times when you may want to share it with all your followers right away.
Luckily, there’s a new repost feature on TikTok that allows you to do that.
How to Repost on TikTok
If you see a video that you want to share with friends on TikTok, there’s a new feature that allows you to repost it and share it with all your followers. And even if you might not know about it, it’s very simple and easy to use.
To do this, you first have to find the video that you want to share. From there, you can tap on the “Send to” option on the side of the screen. When you do this, a new popup menu will appear with different sharing options.
You can either send it as a direct message on TikTok, share it on other platforms, or get the link directly that you can send to other people. While these are cool, they don’t allow you to directly share the post with all your followers.
If you want to share the post with all your followers, you need to tap on the “Repost:” icon, which has a yellow color. This prompts another menu to appear where you can add a comment to the post so that your followers see the comment when the video pops up on their For You page.
If it’s your first time reposting, you will also see a menu that explains exactly what the reposting feature is.
Once everything is finalized and you repost the video, your followers will be able to see the video with your comment on their feed. However, keep in mind that not all videos can be reposted on TikTok, which is what we’ll explain in more detail in the next section.

Why Can’t I Repost a Video to TikTok?
The main reason you can’t repost a TikTok video is that your profile is private. To correct this, simply go to the privacy settings for your profile. From there, you will see a switch that allows you to make your account public or private.
If you already have a public profile but don’t have the repost option on a TikTok video, that means that the person is disallowed from resharing on the platform. This means that they don’t want other people sharing the video on their feeds, so the only way to share it is by sending the link to another person.
That said, there is another way to reshare a video if you can’t repost it on the platform. To do this, you need to:
- Install an app or use a website that downloads TikTok videos
- Copy the link of the video you want to share
- Paste it into the app or website
- Wait for the app to download the video
- Repost the video as your own on your TikTok profile
If you want to share videos on TikTok this way, be careful. To start, you have to make sure that you aren’t infringing on any copyrights by posting the video on your profile. Additionally, make sure to credit the original creator who made the video as failing to do so can result in some repercussions.
And at the end of the day, if the person doesn’t allow resharing of their videos, it’s best to respect their privacy and wishes. So, while you can download and repost TikTok videos as your own, this isn’t the most recommended practice.

Are You Allowed to Download and Repost a TikTok Video?
While there are numerous ways and apps that allow you to download TikTok videos and reshare them to your own profile, note that online videos are subject to copyright law. So, unless you have express consent from the original owner that you can repost their videos, doing so may result in a copyright issue.
Sometimes, all this means is that you’ll be forced to take down the video and deal with an angry message from the original poster. Other times, TikTok may ban you and the original creator may file a copyright lawsuit, which can be a long, arduous, and expensive endeavor. So, we don’t exactly recommend downloading and reposting TikTok videos as your own.
How to View a Repost on TikTok
If you’ve recently reposted a video on TikTok, there’s a high chance you want to view it to make sure that it came out just the way you wanted it to. If you used TikTok’s repost feature, then you won’t be able to see the video on your profile. Instead, all your followers will see the post on their For You pages with your comment on top of it.
All the likes and comments that come from your resharing of the video go directly to the original account. So, reposting someone else’s video on TikTok isn’t the best way to get more engagement on your profile.
That said, if you downloaded the video and reposted it as a new TikTok, you can view it on your profile and receive notifications for any likes and comments. While the comment you add can bring a twist to the content, you won’t get any new engagements when reposting.
Instead, reposting is a feature that you can use to promote other creators or share the things you love with your followers. If you’re looking to boost content engagement, then reposting a TikTok video may not be the best route as none of the engagement the video gets will go to you.

How to Undo a Repost on TikTok
One of the biggest complaints people have with the repost feature is that they end up accidentally resharing a video without meaning to. This happens frequently, especially when someone is trying to share the video via direct message and accidentally taps the repost button.
Luckily, TikTok has made it very easy to undo a repost on the platform, probably because people commonly make this mistake when using the app. To undo a repost, all you have to do is go to the video you reposted, tap on the “Send to” option, and then tap on “Undo repost”.
Once you do this, your followers will no longer see the video you shared and your comment on their For You page unless they already follow the account or have a similar algorithm.
That said, it can be hard to determine whether or not you reposted a video. Again, you won’t be able to see videos you reposted on your profile. Instead, only your followers can see the videos you reshared, so you may not even know that you accidentally reposted a video.
So, be careful when using the app as you don’t want to accidentally share a video you wanted to send privately on your followers’ For You pages.
Can I See the People Who Reposted My TikTok?
If you’re a content creator, there’s a high chance that you want to see how many people and which specific people shared your TikTok. And while you used to be able to do that with a TikTok Creator Profile, this specific analytic is no longer available.
So, you will not be able to see the people who reposted your TikTok and even the comments they added when resharing. This is probably a privacy and security feature for people who reshare the videos. However, it would have been nice if content creators could see the people that shared their posts.
That said, there is a way for you to view the number of people that shared your video. This is a great balance since it doesn’t violate anyone’s privacy while also making it easier to see how well a video is performing.
To do this, go to the creator tools option, tap on analytics, then view the shares under the engagement tab.

Conclusion
If you’re on the TikTok app, there’s a way that you can share and repost a video for it to pop up on your followers’ for you pages. To do this, you will need to have a public account, and the person that posted the video needs to allow you to reshare it. Once shared, your followers will see the video with any comment you added on their For You pages.
If you don’t see the repost options when trying to share a video, the user has probably restricted this feature. The only workaround to this is downloading the video and reposting it as your own, though that can put you into some copyright trouble, so we don’t recommend it.
